My story

I grew up dreaming of a life that involved working with animals. I took advantage of every opportunity to spend time with any and every dog I could. But it wasn't until the week that I was graduating high school (2009) that I got my very first dog, a little black "hippo" girl that I named Kylie. I learned a lot from her. She loved everyone, loved to adventure and explore, eat, dive for rocks, catch flies, bark and eat out of the garbage can.

When Kylie was a few years old I got a job as a Dog Daycare Attendant at a dog care facility in Winnipeg. It was right then and there that I jumped head first into the world of dogs. This is also around the same time that I started looking to add another dog to our family.

I worked as a Daycare Attendant / Sales Representative for a few months and then decided to give grooming a try. I started as a Bather/Prepper and very quickly moved up the ladder as a Finishing Groomer under the supervision and mentor-ship of some of Manitoba's top Master Groomers/Show Handlers.

May 2012, a little black and tan German Shepherd puppy joined the Lavallee family, we named him Oakley. He didn't know which way his ears were going or what his feet were doing but he grew to be a very loyal friend who would do anything for me. He would chase a ball till his heart stopped, he'd swim to save my life, he loves to chase squirrels even though he'll never catch one and he loves to be anywhere that I am it doesn't matter what we're doing. With him came puppy classes, obedience classes, a Canine Good Neighbor certificate and conformation shows.

Every step lead us to a new adventure and an opportunity to grow and meet new people. Over the years I have trained in/competed in competitive obedience, agility, herding, conformation, dock diving, rally obedience, trick training and achieved CGN titles and successfully trained a St John Ambulance Therapy Dog.

I left my job in the big city the summer of 2014 to open A Furry Tail Endings doors September 2014. A Furry Tail Ending opened as Canadian Professional Pet Stylist all breed grooming salon with the hopes of evolving to offer more services down the road. We were one of the first businesses south of Winnipeg to offer Raw Pet Food to Southern Manitoba, and we are happy to say this the industry as massively increased over the years!

I took my first trip to Negril Jamaica in 2017 and fell in love with the country. During one of our trips I met an amazing human named Debbie Lightheart who is a fellow Canadian living in Negril and spends most of her time helping owned and stray dogs. She has a made a huge impact for the animals in and around Negril since opening starting the Negril Spay and Neuter Clinic. Every time I visit the island I be sure fundraise money to either bring supplies with me or to support a clinic day while I'm in Jamaica. Helping at the clinic is something that I always look forward to and I hope to help in bigger ways throughout the years.

My journey becoming a dog trainer started when I met Debbi McArthur in 2013 when we were showing our half brother German Shepherd dogs in the ring together. We became friends, she traveled to Cesar Milans Dog Psychology center in California and the rest is history! I spent 5 years mentoring under Debbi. I became a contracted trainer Summer of 2018 and became the owner of the Prairieburn Pembina Valley Division in November 2018.

I became the mom of a beautiful boy named Brooks December 2019 but that didn't stop us.. we moved into our new indoor 2,500 sqft new facility in 2020 where we could expand to offer Grooming, Daycare, Boarding and Training services as well as expand our Retail section. We also have a fully fenced in yard spanning 6,000 sqft for lots of outdoor sniffs and plays. We have four lovely humans working tirelessly to keep everyone's beloved pets safe, happy & healthy on a daily basis. We're hoping to dig in a pond summer of 2025!

My first love Kylie passed unexpectedly February 10th 2021. I waited what seemed like a lifetime for her. Then I was blessed to spend a lifetime with her. She fought battles for us before. I wasn't going to ask her to fight this one. She was by my side every step of my adult life for almost 12 years. She was without a doubt one of the best blessings I have been given in my lifetime and I will spend the rest of my life honoring you and your legacy.

Oakley will turn 13 years old May 2025 and I count my blessings every day that he's still apart mine and Brooks' life. He still loves to coming to work to be with me, trips to the lake, spending summer days in the backyard, eating snacks and very very deep sleeps.

We look forward to many more years serving our community and helping provide and exceptional life for you and your dog <3
